The second “European AI for Fundamental Physics Conference” (EuCAIFCon), will be held in Cagliari, Sardinia, from 16 to 20 June 2025. The event aims to provide a platform for establishing new connections between AI activities across various branches of fundamental physics, including theoretical physics, accelerator physics, experimental particle physics, gravitational waves, astroparticle physics, cosmology and nuclear physics.
Updates A scientific program overview can be found here https://agenda.infn.it/event/43565/program Plenary speakers (list of confirmed speakers, check here https://agenda.infn.it/event/43565/page/9878-plenary-speakers for latest updates) David Keitel (Balearic Islands U.) - Gravitational waves François Lanusse (CosmoStat Laboratory, Paris) - Cosmology Jennifer Ngadiuba (Fermilab, Chicago) - Experimental particle physics Takehiko Saito (RIKEN, Wako, Saitama) - Nuclear physics Mario Krenn (Artificial Scientist Lab, MPL, Erlangen) - Automatic scientific discovery Michael Spannowsky (Institute of Particle Physics Phenomenology, Durham U.) - Quantum Machine Learning Abstract submission deadline extended to Monday, 24 Feb 2025. [LINK https://agenda.infn.it/event/43565/abstracts/]. Tracks are structured horizontally by AI topics: Datasets & Ethics (including e.g. dataset creation, benchmarks, training, sustainability, AI ethics) Explainability & Theory (including e.g. physics-informed AI, integration of physics and ML, explainable AI, symbolic regression) Foundation Models (including e.g. foundation models & conversational AI, transformers) Hardware & Design (including e.g. hardware innovations, experimental design) Inference & Uncertainty (including e.g. simulation-based inference, variational inference, unfolding, uncertainty quantification) Patterns & Anomalies (including e.g. pattern recognition, image analysis, anomaly detection) Real-Time Data Processing (including e.g. fast ML inference for real-time data processing, hardware acceleration, FPGAs) Simulations & Generative Models (including e.g. generative models, simulation of physical systems) Other (anything that does not fit into the above categories; please describe your reasoning in the comments section in that case)
EuCAIFCon 2025 is organized by EuCAIF https://eucaif.org/, and with the support of INFN Cagliari, the University of Cagliari and the University of Sassari. EuCAIF is a new European initiative for advancing the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Fundamental Physics. Members are working on particle physics, astroparticle physics, nuclear physics, gravitational wave physics, cosmology, theoretical physics as well as simulation and computational infrastructure.
